All my images from the Autumn/Summer season 2010

The year 2010 is about to end.

Here is a collection from all of my astronomical images from Summer/Autumn season 2010.
I can't do any imaging from my observatory during Summer months, due the high latitude, 65N.
I was lucky enough to have an access to a Northern Galactic groups Australian remote telescope for few months this year.

Happy new year to all readers and followers!

The whole collection can be seen in my portfolio, with the technical details:

NGC7000 & the Pelican nebula as a Stereo Pair 3D

I have made animated 3D versions from most of the stereo pairs, they can be found here:

Sh2-171 reprocessed

I did reprocessed this nebula since my skills are much better now, than two years ago.
3D-studies from this object can be found from previous posts.

Image is in HST-palette, (HST=Hubble Space Telescope)
from the emission of ionized elements, R=Sulfur, G=Hydrogen and B=Oxygen.

Natural color composition from the emission of ionized elements, R=80%Hydrogen+20%Sulfur, G=100%Oxygen and B=85%Oxygen+15%Hydrogen to compensate otherwise missing H-beta emission. This composition is very close to a visual spectrum.

An older version of processing and technical details can be found here:

Sh2-171 as an animated 3D

Animations are made by creating artificial parallax to an image. Then two images are animated together by using conversion web service, Start3D. There can be some artifacts in images, due the experimental nature of this work! The volumetric models are based on some known facts and an artistic impression.

Please, let the images load for few seconds to see them animated!

Sh2-234, IC417, Project finalized

Sh2-234, IC417, sometimes called as "Spider Nebula", in constellation Auriga. H-alpha 22x1200s, binned down 2x2 to boost the sensitivity. HST-palette, (HST=Hubble Space Telescope)
from the emission of ionized elements, R=Sulfur, G=Hydrogen and B=Oxygen.

Distance is about 10.000 light years. Image is about 30' wide and covers about 100 light years.
Ra 05 hr 28 min 05.9 sec , Dec +34 hr 25 min26 sec

This is not too commonly imaged target due the lowish surface brightness and the proximity of two eye catchers, IC 405 and IC 410. This image was one of the most difficult one to process due the very weak signal. There was some very dim O-III emission in the target, it can be seen as a Blue.

Natural color composition from the emission of ionized elements, R=80%Hydrogen+20%Sulfur, G=100%Oxygen and B=85%Oxygen+15%Hydrogen to compensate otherwise missing H-beta emission. This composition is very close to a visual spectrum.
Technical details:

Processing work flow:
Image acquisition, MaxiDL v5.07.
Stacked and calibrated in CCDStack.
Deconvolution with a CCDSharp, 30 iterations, 50% mix..
Levels, curves and color combine in PS CS3.

Telescope, Meade LX200 GPS 12" @ f5
Camera, QHY9 Guiding, SXV-AO @ 4,5Hz
Image Scale, 0,75 arcseconds/pixel
Baader H-alpha 7nm 22x1200s, binned 2x2
Baader O-III 8,5nm 4x1200s, binned 3x3
S-II is taken from my older wide field image

Area of interest is marked with a Red rectangle.

Sh2-234 aka IC 417, start of the new project.

Sh2-234, IC417, sometimes called as "Spider Nebula", in constellation Auriga. H-alpha 15x1200s.

Sh2-234,  contains a young open star cluster that ionizing the surrounding gas.
I will shoot more lights for this object later, including O-III and S-II data.

NGC 1499, reprocessed

I did reprocessed this nebula since my skills are much better now, than two years ago.

All the exposures I have taken for this object are used. Total exposure time is now about 20h together.

Two camera lenses was used to capture the data, a Tokina AT 300mm f2.8 and a Canon EF 200mm f1.8, both lenses was used at full aperture.

NGC 1499, the "California Nebula" locates in constellation Perseus. Distance is about 1000 light years.
The nebula covers about 2,5 degrees of sky.
RA 04h 03m 18.00s Dec +36° 25′ 18.0"
Natural color composition from the emission of ionized elements, R=80%Hydrogen+20%Sulfur, G=100%Oxygen and B=85%Oxygen+15%Hydrogen to compensate otherwise missing H-beta emission. This composition is very close to a visual spectrum.

HST-palette, (HST=Hubble Space Telescope)
from the emission of ionized elements, R=Sulfur, G=Hydrogen and B=Oxygen.

Narrowband data was used for Star colors this time, mixture of channels was the same as in first "natural" color composition image here.

There is a formation at Seven a clock, kind of half circle, it might be an old uncategorized planetary nebula?
